It is completely vehicle-less and all deliveries and journeys are made either on foot across the cobbles or by donkey. There is normally a Land Rover service to help you get back to the top – do check its service at the visitor centre.
Exmoor
A unique landscape of moorland, woodland, valleys and farmland. Within its 267 square miles contains an amazing variety of landscapes with spectacular coastal views, deep wooded valleys, high sea cliffs and fast-flowing streams all combine to form a rich and distinct mosaic.
Lundy Island
Britain’s own Galapagos - A granite outcrop, three miles long and half a mile wide. In the hubbub of the modern world it is a place apart, peaceful and unspoiled. Lundy’s position with the Atlantic Ocean to the west and the Bristol Channel to the east creates a unique combination of environmental conditions that have given rise of a considerable selection of habitats that in turn support a variety of rare and spectacular wildlife.
Lundy has a resident population of approximately 180 Atlantic grey seals. These seals can be seen just about anywhere on the island, either “hauled” out on the rocks enjoying the sun, or in the water. Whilst in the water they can dive for up to 20 minutes at a time in search of fish, and are common sights in and around the kelp forests.
